United’s commitment to connecting more of Middle Tennessee grew out of a dedication to serving our customers, community, and employees. We’re a local company — staffed by Middle Tennesseans, serving Middle Tennesseans — and by bringing world-class connectivity to our neighbors, we help fuel economic development that brings new companies and opportunities to our area.
A Company and a Connection Supporting Local Communities
United supports our communities by offering free internet service to several Volunteer Fire Departments, including: Belfast, Chapel Hill, Eagleville, Estill Springs, Farmington, Flat Creek, Maury County, Petersburg, Unionville and Williamson County.
Providing reliable, high-speed internet to these emergency services greatly improves life-saving response.

United has also established free downtown Wi-Fi for Petersburg, Shelbyville and Franklin. Shelbyville’s public Wi-Fi launched in 2023, Franklin’s launched in 2024, and Petersburg recently launched in 2025.
The internet service solves the issue of poor mobile phone coverage in these areas and keeps local businesses and their patrons connected.

With the addition of United’s 8 Gig internet speed throughout Middle Tennessee, United wanted to give back to the community with free 8 Gig service to the Boys and Girls Club of Bedford County and Boys and Girls Club of Rutherford County at Smyrna.
These clubs provide local students with a wide range of after-school enrichment programs that are now internet-capable through this service.

United Community Foundation Scholarships
United has awarded merit-based scholarships to children of employees for many years. In 2023, we expanded our United Community Foundation Scholarship fund to award seniors graduating from high schools in our service area. And beginning in 2025, United is doubling the scholarship award to $2,000 per year for up to four years.
United Community Foundation Scholarship recipients display remarkable academic achievement and community service, and receive scholarships to help pay for tuition and vocational training opportunities.
