Fiber Internet Customer Spotlight: Rengie Mendoza

For Thompson’s Station entrepreneur Rengie Mendoza, reliable internet isn’t an option; it’s a necessity.

Rengie has lived in Thompson’s Station for a little more than two years and runs multiple businesses from his home. One is a review collection agency that helps local businesses gather customer reviews. He also operates RenzaGroup, a consulting and growth advisory business that helps small businesses innovate, scale, and reach the next level.

Because so much of his work happens online, Rengie needs a fast, consistent connection throughout the workday.

“A lot of the things that I do are online,” he says. “All my platforms, the stuff that I build, everything is online. So, a minor interruption really causes a lot of headaches for me.”

Rengie became a United Communications customer about three months ago after learning about the company through a friend. He signed up for United’s 2 Gig fiber internet plan.

Before he switched, Rengie says that occasional internet interruptions caused problems at inconvenient times, including during important Zoom meetings or when he was working against a deadline.

Since switching to United, that hasn’t been an issue.

“So far, so good,” Rengie says. “I haven’t had any interruptions in the three months that I’ve been with United.”

The transition itself was also simple. Rengie said United scheduled his installation quickly. After bringing fiber into the home and replacing his router, the installation process took roughly half an hour.

Rengie has also appreciated working with a local company. While he hasn’t needed technical assistance, he says the company’s proactive communication has been a plus: “Just support in terms of following up, checking in, making sure everything’s okay. I thought that was a plus working with a local company.”

For Rengie, the biggest measure of value is simple: his internet works when he needs it.

“So far, the value is tremendous since the reliability is there,” he says. “I don’t know if I can put a dollar amount on it, but the fact that I haven’t been offline and I haven’t had any interruptions is really important to me.”

His advice to other small business owners who depend on the internet is equally straightforward.

“If you’re a business owner and your success relies on a steady internet connection, if you work a lot with online services and you really need the internet in your operations, then I would suggest you jump on board, get with United, and check if it’s available in your area,” Rengie says. “I haven’t regretted it so far.”

For Rengie, a dependable connection is measured less by speed tests than by consistency. When the internet simply works day after day, he can stay focused on what matters most: helping his own businesses—and his clients’ businesses—grow and thrive.
