Founded in 1962, Thompson Financial Group has built its reputation on personal relationships and thoughtful financial planning. “Our business is about trust,” Brian said. “A lot of the work we do happens face-to-face with clients, or through video meetings like Zoom or Teams. Being able to communicate clearly and reliably is essential.”
That focus on connection—both personal and technological—became especially important when the firm opened its Franklin office about a year ago. As the team settled into the new location, they quickly realized their internet service wasn’t keeping up with the demands of their daily work.
“Our previous provider couldn’t handle multiple people on calls at the same time,” Brian explained. “If three of us were on a video meeting, it would trigger the system to drop. At first you reset it and move on—but after a while, apologizing to clients over and over gets frustrating.”
The issue became so predictable that it even turned into a running joke during the firm’s weekly meetings.
“We have three offices across the country, and every Monday we have a team stand-up meeting,” Brian said. “The joke used to be, ‘Alright, the Tennessee office is about to drop.’ And eventually we realized—that’s not something you should just accept. Reliable internet should just work.”
The search for a better solution led them right down the hall.

“We noticed it the same day,” Brian said. “All three of us could be on calls at once with no interruptions. That’s a necessity in this business.”

“We have guest Wi-Fi available so clients can pull up statements, investments, or spending information right there in the meeting,” Brian explained. “It helps us move through our planning process faster and provide answers in real time.”
But perhaps the biggest improvement is simply peace of mind.
“Honestly, the best part is that we don’t think about our internet anymore,” Brian said. “We get on a call with a client and focus on them—not whether the connection is going to drop. That means everything in this business.”
For Brian, working with a local internet provider adds another layer of confidence.
“We’re a locally based business here in Franklin, and relationships matter in our line of work,” he said. “Having a provider that’s also local—someone who’s reachable, who checks in, who wants to be a partner—that means a lot to us.”
