For Nicholas Lynn, reliable internet is essential to how he and his wife, Erin, live and work each day. Nicholas works fully remote from his home in Murfreesboro as a growth marketing manager for a global fintech company, and his workdays are filled with Zoom calls, Slack huddles, and constant digital collaboration.
Erin is a full-time professional landscape oil painter who works from her home studio upstairs, where she often livestreams her creative process. With both of them relying heavily on connectivity throughout the day, a strong and dependable internet connection is a must.
“We use a lot of bandwidth, and a reliable connection is super important for us,” Lynn said.
Nicholas and his wife have been United customers for a little over two years. In fact, United was one of the first calls he made when they moved into their home.
“My father.. had them at his previous house, and he spoke so highly of United,” Lynn said. “Whenever we moved into our new house, the first thing I did was I reached out to United to see if they serviced us. And thankfully they did.”
A Smooth Start from Day One
Lynn said getting connected with United was quick and easy from the start.
“As soon as we moved in, I called them and I just asked if they service our address,” he said. “They immediately asked if we wanted to go ahead and schedule a technician coming out.”
Because Nicholas already had mesh equipment available on loan from his dad, he opted to use his own setup. He said the installation technician made the process seamless.
“When the tech came, he made it super easy, got us all set up, and made sure everything was working before he left,” Lynn said. “That was awesome.”
That straightforward, helpful experience stood out, especially compared with his previous internet providers.
“Since college, I’ve used probably two ISPs, two of the big names, and I was never really happy with either of them,” Lynn said. “The connection was never reliable. It would always drop. It caused major frustrations.”
Built for Work, Streaming, and Gaming
Today, Nicholas and his wife rely on United’s 1 Gig plan to support a high-demand household. Between remote work, streaming, gaming, and everyday connected devices, their network gets plenty of use.
“We have truly never had an issue with connectivity, reliability, going down if they were doing servicing,” Lynn said. “It’s been really impressive.”
He said the service has remained strong even during periods when others nearby were dealing with outages.
“Even when we had the ice storms the past year and then two years ago, we really had no issues,” Lynn said. “People were saying ‘our internet’s out’ or ‘our power’s out,’ and we really never had any internet issues.”
That consistency has mattered not only for work but also for entertainment. Nicholas and his wife are both avid gamers, and he says United has kept up with everything from online gaming to streaming to emerging tools like AI.
“Even whenever we’re doing multistreaming, running games, using AI, nothing is really slowing down the connection,” he said.
Service that Feels Local
While reliability is the most important thing in an internet provider, Lynn said the local service has also made a lasting impression.
With what he calls “a really good ISP,” Nicholas said the best sign is often that you do not have to think about it very much.
“No news is really good news,” he said. “You don’t want to have to think about your internet connection. You want it to just work.”
Still, the couple’s few direct interactions with United left a positive impression. He described the technician who set up their service as supportive, kind, and thorough.
“They cleaned up after themselves. They took pride in their work,” Lynn said.
He also recalled calling United’s support line about a week later to make sure autopay and the app were properly set up.
“They answered, they were a local representative, which was really nice, and they stayed on the phone,” Lynn said. “It really felt like they cared about making sure that I was taken care of.”
A recommendation rooted in experience
For Lynn, one of the biggest differences with United has been what he does not experience: dropped connections, constant upselling, and the feeling that customer service is rushing to get him off the phone.
“That’s been one of my biggest things about United,” he said. “I really just don’t have to think about it. It’s been such a good service. They’re not constantly bombarding me to upgrade my service or get another line or anything like that.” (Watch Nicholas share more about his experience in a short video here.)
When asked what he would say to a neighbor considering the switch, his answer was simple.
“If you’re looking for local service, someone who really cares about and takes pride in their work, I would highly recommend United,” Lynn said. “I’ve just had such a pleasant experience with them.”
For remote-working households like the Lynns, dependable internet is more than a utility. It is part of the foundation of daily life. And for Nicholas, United has delivered the kind of experience every customer wants: strong performance, local support, and a connection that simply works.
