United in the Community: Celebrating Summer with Local Events

There’s always been something special about summertime in Tennessee. The days are long, the sweet tea is cold, the fireflies are blinking in the twilight, and every weekend brings a chance to slow down and gather with neighbors for front porch conversations and easygoing fun.

For me, there’s no better way to celebrate our communities than by getting out there and joining in the fun—and at United, we truly love being a part of those moments. Whether it’s a neighborhood party or a small-town tractor pull, these are the times that remind us why we love to call Middle Tennessee home.

Why Hometown Pride Resonates Deeply with Us

Being from Middle Tennessee myself, I’ve always felt a strong sense of pride in where I come from. Summertime here feels like a homecoming—familiar, warm, and full of little traditions that bring people together. It is my favorite time of year here because fantastic local events are always just around the corner. They’re the kind of gatherings that invite you to catch up with familiar faces and soak in that unmistakable hometown pride.

One of my favorite memories is from my very first summer with United Communications. We were set up at the Chapel Hill tractor pull, and I’ll never forget this little boy who came up to grab a fan and coloring book from our table. His whole face lit up with excitement, and his parents, who had lived in Chapel Hill their whole lives, were just as thrilled to be sharing the experience with him for the first time.

That’s the kind of moment that stays with you. It’s the heartbeat of our hometown events—and a big part of why they mean so much to all of us at United. Our company roots reach back to 1947, and that deep connection to the communities we serve is something we carry with pride. Over the years, United has grown alongside these towns, celebrated their milestones, and shared in the most memorable events that make each community truly special.

Where You’ll Find Your United Communications Friends This Summer

This year’s summer calendar is already off to an amazing start. We had a blast at the Franklin Rodeo earlier this season, and we’re just getting warmed up! If you’re out and about in Middle Tennessee this summer, come say hello. Here’s a look at where you’ll find us next:

Eagleville Truck and Tractor Pull – Saturday, June 14

If you’ve never been to a tractor pull, this is your sign to go. It’s a thrill to watch the smoke blow and the dirt fly as these powerful machines tear down the track. We’ll be there with giveaways and big smiles. Stop by and enjoy the ride with us!

RC Moon Pie Festival – Saturday, June 21 in Bell Buckle

This is one of the most delightful events in the South! From the parade to the Moon Pie toss and everything in between, it’s a day filled with laughs, nostalgia, and good old-fashioned fun. We’re excited to join the celebration of that iconic RC Cola and Moon Pie combo and hope to see plenty of you out there with sticky fingers and happy hearts.

Nolensville Star-Spangled Celebration – Saturday, June 28 in Nolensville

This event is a true highlight of the summer. With delicious dishes from food trucks and incredible fireworks, it’s a family-friendly evening packed with fun. We’ll be at Nolensville High School handing out swag and chatting with neighbors. Bring the kids, enjoy the music, and stay for the fireworks—it’s a great way to kick off your Independence Day celebrations.

Bedford County Fair – July 14–19

This will be our first year sponsoring this fair, and we couldn’t be more excited. Celebrating its 151st year, the Bedford County Fair brings together livestock shows, tractor pulls, carnival rides, and more. We’re proud to be part of such a longstanding tradition and look forward to making new memories in Shelbyville.

Lions Super Pull of the South – July 18–19 in Chapel Hill

We’re back to where it all started for me! This year marks the 50th Annual Lions Super Pull. There’s something electric about this event, and we can’t wait to be there cheering right alongside you.

More Than Just an Internet Provider

For nearly 80 years, we’ve been deeply rooted in Middle Tennessee. These communities are more than just our service areas—they’re our hometowns, too. Our employees live here, raise families here, and take pride in building strong, meaningful connections with the people we serve.

Every summer event we attend is a chance to do just that: connect. Whether it’s handing out goodies to kids, talking to families about faster internet options, or simply sharing a laugh over a funnel cake, we’re honored to be part of your summer story.

So if you see our United Communications team at an event, stop by and say hello! We’d love to meet you, hear about your summer plans, and show you that behind our fast, reliable, homegrown fiber is a team that’s proud to call Middle Tennessee home.

Here’s to making unforgettable summer memories together!
