Marshall County Expansion

United Communications and Duck River Electric are expanding fiber internet to 1,000 additional locations in Marshall County, TN through a $12 million investment. The funding includes $8 million from a federal Last Mile grant and $4 million from United Communications.

This expansion is part of Project UNITE, which already serves over 6,000 locations in Marshall County. The new buildout will cover remaining unserved areas in the central county region.

The project represents a significant infrastructure upgrade for Marshall County, improving internet access for both residents and businesses in previously underserved areas.

A lot of lives in Marshall County got better today by this announcement,” Marshall County Mayor Mike Keny shared. Knowing that an additional 1,000 locations in our county will now have internet access — be they homes or businesses that lack modern broadband connection —   is something we are truly excited about.”

“Through collaboration, partnership, and commitment, Project UNITE continues to deliver on its mission of connecting rural communities in southern Middle Tennessee to high-speed internet,” Said James Write, President and CEO of Duck River Electric Membership Corporation.”
