Q: How will I know when 8 Gig is available in my area?
A: We will keep you updated with regular communications at least once a quarter, including:
- Email updates with projected availability timelines.
- Email and a phone call when 8 Gig service becomes available so you know when we are upgrading you from your current fiber internet speed to 8 Gig.
Q: How does the interim internet service work?
A: We’ll install the necessary equipment at your home now, so you’re ready for 8 Gig fiber internet service when it launches in later this year. The upgrade will happen remotely, requiring no additional visits or interruptions.
Q: Is there a commitment required to join the 8 Gig Waitlist?
A: No deposit is required. We will come out to install the necessary equipment. By joining the 8 Gig Waitlist, you’re simply securing your spot and agreeing to upgrade from your current internet speed to 8 Gig service when it becomes available.
Q: What happens if I’m not satisfied with the service?
A: We’re confident you’ll love the speed and reliability of our 8 Gig service. However, if you’re not satisfied, we offer a 90-day money-back guarantee for customers using eBill and autopay.
Q: When will 8 Gig be available in my area?
A: Our 8 Gig service is already available in some areas, and it will be available in other areas on a rolling schedule from March through December 2025. We will keep you updated at least quarterly.

Which Internet Speed Is Right For You?
Multi-Gig Limitations
Note that not all devices can handle multi-gig speeds, and specialized equipment like a compatible router and modem is required. For United’s 8 Gig service, we make it easy by including the necessary router in the monthly price.
Many devices won’t achieve the full multi-gig speed over Wi-Fi due to hardware and interference constraints. Multi-gig is best for hardwired connections however, a Wi-Fi connection and hardwired connection in the same home will have plenty of bandwidth available for both to use at the same time.
Typically running a speed test on a standard device will not show the full multi-gig speed as a number of older customer devices are not capable of transmitting data as fast as 2 Gig or 8 Gig.
Internet speeds may vary and are not guaranteed. Certain equipment may be required to fully reach advertised speeds.
