Business Customer Spotlight: Faith and Grace Flooring

For Buffy Stancill, owner of Faith and Grace Flooring, reliable internet connectivity is essential to keeping her business moving.

Faith and Grace Flooring, which has locations in Nolensville and Murfreesboro, has grown quickly since Stancill and her husband launched the company three and a half years ago. What began as a home-based carpet distribution business has expanded into a full-service flooring company. Today, the business is also branching into lighting and home design.

“We just do all things flooring,” Stancill said. “If you walk on it, we cover it.”

The company’s name is rooted in family. Faith and Grace are the middle names of Stancill’s two daughters, and the phrase reflects a message she has carried with her for years.

“When they were born, I always said, ‘Everybody needs a little bit of faith and grace in their lives,’” she explained.

A growing business with growing technology needs

As Faith and Grace Flooring has expanded, technology has become central to its day-to-day operations. Stancill said nearly every part of the business depends on a strong internet connection.

“Our flooring software is all on the internet,” she said. “We don’t do anything by hand or on paper anymore.”

That software supports the company’s quotes, measurements, warehouse operations, and accounting functions, all in real time. For a business like Faith and Grace Flooring, internet downtime means business downtime.

That challenge was especially frustrating at the company’s Murfreesboro store, where unreliable service had become a recurring problem. Stancill said her team became accustomed to using phone hotspots as a backup whenever service went down.

“We run into Comcast being down a lot in Murfreesboro,” she said. “My team there has gotten very equipped to learning how to use a hot spot on their phone.”

When it came time to set up the Nolensville location, Stancill knew she needed a better experience.

A local relationship that makes a difference

Faith and Grace Flooring became a United customer less than six months ago after Stancill connected with a United business account executive, Liz Pitmon, through the Rutherford County Chamber. The two serve together as chamber diplomats, and those conversations helped introduce Stancill to United’s business services.

“We signed up Nolensville for the internet and the phones,” she said.

United also now provides phone service for the company’s Destin, Florida location, and Stancill said she plans to move other locations over as existing provider contracts expire.

For Stancill, one of the biggest differentiators has been the relationship-based service model. As someone who runs her own business on relationships, she said that kind of personal connection matters.

“I run a relationship-based company and I truly believe in relationships,” she said. “There’s a peace of mind knowing that I can pick up the phone and call [Liz], and she’s going to get me to the right person.”

That stands in sharp contrast to previous experiences with larger providers.

“I reached out to my Comcast business rep about a year ago and said, ‘Hey, I’m running into some problems,’” Stancill said. “And he basically said, ‘That’s not my department. You need to call the 1-800 number.’ At that moment, I knew something was going to have to change.”

For a busy owner managing multiple locations, time matters. Stancill said having a trusted point of contact has made a real impact.

“I don’t have time to sit on the phone with 1-800 so-and-so,” she said. “There’s a big benefit to that. As a business owner, that’s critical.”

Seamless service and no complaints

So far, Stancill said the transition to United has been smooth from the start. She chose the fastest internet option available for Nolensville and said the service has delivered exactly what her business needed. She also described the installation process as simple and professional.

“The guy who came out to set us up was tremendous,” Stancill said. “He walked me through every little piece. It was just really good. It was a good experience.”

That ease has carried through her overall experience as a customer.

“It was one of my best business decisions,” she said. “I have no complaints. No complaints. This has been very seamless, very easy.”

Though Faith and Grace Flooring is still early in its relationship with United, Stancill said she already sees it as a long-term partner and hopes United’s footprint will continue to grow.

For Stancill, that says a lot. In a business where speed, communication, and responsiveness matter every day, she said having a provider that simply works—and people she can count on when needed—has made all the difference.
