BY Rick Jurosky, Chief Infrastructure Officer AT UNITED COMMUNICATIONS
United Communications’ roots run deep in Williamson County. While our corporate headquarters are nestled within the vibrant Berry Farms community in Franklin, our connection to Williamson County is more than just a geographical location. Instead, it’s a promise of unwavering support to our community and our customers. United Communications is proud to be a leading Williamson County internet service provider. Our team takes pride in delivering cutting-edge internet services and actively contributing to the well-being and progress of the local community.
As a resident of Williamson County, I always enjoy telling people that I work at United Communications. This hasn’t always been the case for other telecommunications companies I’ve worked for during my 30+ years in the industry. Working for a company that’s built a strong reputation with customers and employees is really exciting. And as someone who is also a United Communications customer, I’m passionate about ensuring that all residents of Williamson County have access to the same high-quality service I have.
Our Commitment and Connection to Williamson County
While our involvement in Williamson County dates back nearly 75 years, I wanted to highlight a few recent initiatives that underscore our commitment and connection to the community:
1. We are rapidly expanding our efforts to provide fiber internet access to more Williamson County residents.
Williamson is one of the most affluent counties in Tennessee, so it’s easy for people to miss that there are thousands of residents and businesses across Williamson County without access to high-speed internet. This means that thousands of our neighbors don’t have adequate access to many of the internet-based necessities we take for granted.
We’ve made it our mission to provide high-speed internet to every underserved home or business in the communities we serve. In fact, no other internet provider matches our commitment to closing the digital divide in Williamson County.
Over the past several years, our team has made significant investments in fulfilling this mission. In 2022, with support from leaders in Williamson County, we were awarded a grant that will allow us to invest $20.2 million in infrastructure to serve residents within the county that do not have access to adequate internet bandwidth. By 2025, we’ll provide fiber access to more than 20,000+ locations countywide.
2. We are intentional about exploring opportunities to better serve our community.
We understand that fast, reliable internet is essential for today’s families and businesses. That’s why we’re constantly investing in our infrastructure to ensure that we’re providing the best possible service.
Overall, we are building a fiber optic network that is second to none. We’ll go head-to-head any day with the leading nationwide providers. Our internet plans are often faster and more reliable than other providers. But what really sets us apart is that we are constantly exploring creative solutions to allocate our investments and build infrastructure in a way that positively impacts Williamson County residents. In other words, our team is diligent about maximizing our investment, optimizing local infrastructure, and fueling economic development in our community.
3. We are dedicated to offering the best customer experience in the area.
Unlike many of the larger nationwide providers, our company is made up of your neighbors and friends. We believe providing high-quality service and knowing our customers personally is extremely important, and it makes a difference when customers are choosing an internet provider.
As a local internet service provider, we hire local service representatives who live in the areas we serve. Our approach offers several unique advantages for our customers, and we listen to our customers in order to understand each community’s needs.
4. We are actively involved in our community and care about supporting our neighbors.
One of the most meaningful ways we support Williamson County is through the various ways we give back. Whether it’s sponsoring local families during the holidays or spending the day at a local food bank, our employees make an effort to connect and engage with our neighbors across the community.
We’ve also supported local government agencies and emergency services in Williamson County throughout the years. For example, we’ve equipped numerous rural and volunteer fire departments across Williamson County with free broadband internet access to support the important work they do.
World-Class Internet with a Commitment to Williamson County
We’re proud to be a part of Williamson County, and we’re committed to providing our residents with the best possible internet service. If you’re looking for an internet provider that cares about the community, then United Communications is the right choice for you.
