FRANKLIN, Tenn. (May 8, 2025) — United Communications, the largest locally based fiber internet provider in Middle Tennessee, announced a significant expansion of its Franklin multi-gig broadband network during a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday to celebrate the fifth anniversary of its headquarters in Franklin.

The event, held in collaboration with Williamson, Inc., marked a major milestone for the 78-year-old company, bringing together local business leaders, elected officials, and community members to celebrate the achievement.

Event attendees gathered at United’s main office location in the vibrant Berry Farms community, which has served as the company’s headquarters since 2020. Speakers at the event highlighted United’s continued investment in Middle Tennessee’s economic growth and its commitment to serving the region with best-in-class fiber broadband.

“Middle Tennessee runs on United fiber, and as our region’s only local internet provider, we’re thrilled to celebrate our deep roots with our headquarters right here in Franklin,” said William Bradford, president and CEO of United Communications and board member of Williamson, Inc.

“When we relocated our corporate headquarters here in 2020, we had just begun a major investment to bring internet access to every rural area of Williamson County,” added Bradford. “With those projects nearing completion, I’m proud to announce that more than 4,000 homes and businesses in Franklin can now connect to United internet—a significant milestone in our mission to serve every Middle Tennessee Electric member in the Franklin area.”

Over the next few months, the next phase of our expansion in Franklin will connect more than 3,000 homes and businesses across the city to Middle Tennessee’s highest-performing broadband network, delivering residential internet speeds of up to 8 Gbps. That’s over 40 times faster than the average internet speed in Tennessee.

United’s rapid expansion throughout Franklin is made possible by the company’s innovative Stealth Fiber technology, which enables crews to quickly and efficiently install new fiber optic lines to current and future properties through existing underground conduits managed by Middle Tennessee Electric.

“As a Middle Tennessee company, our commitment runs deep. We live here, we work here, and we’re investing here,” said Josh Lynch, COO of United Communications. “We’re not chasing short-term wins—we’re building long-term infrastructure for a connected future.”

Currently serving over 100,000 homes and businesses in Middle Tennessee, United Communications continues to lead the way with cutting-edge technology and a commitment to community-driven service. As part of its dedication to Franklin, the company also provides free public Wi-Fi in historic downtown Franklin, helping both residents and visitors stay connected.

“As our city continues to grow, having a local partner like United Communications makes all the difference,” said Matt Largen, president and CEO of Williamson, Inc. “Their investment in both infrastructure and people strengthens our community and positions us for a connected future in Williamson County.”

United’s high-speed fiber service provides every customer with a dedicated connection capable of multi-gig download speeds and matching upload speeds with an industry-leading 99.99% network reliability score. Monthly residential internet plans offered by United Communications start at $49.95 with no data caps, contracts, or hidden fees.
