FRANKLIN, Tenn. (Aug. 20, 2026) — United Communications celebrated Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day on Tuesday, August 18, by delivering cookies made by The Southern Baking Co. in Spring Hill to several volunteer fire departments across Middle Tennessee.

Organized by United employees, the appreciation effort was a gesture of thanks to the volunteer firefighters who protect their neighbors, often while balancing full-time jobs, families, and other responsibilities. Nearly 60% of Tennessee’s fire service is volunteer-run, and volunteer firefighters staff over 73% of the state’s fire departments.

“Volunteer firefighters are people that our communities depend on, and United is proud to support them,” said William Bradford, president and CEO of United Communications. “Providing free reliable connectivity and taking time to say thank you are two ways we can show up for the communities we call home.”

This initiative reflects United’s commitment to being a network customers can rely on, backed by people they can count on. For United, being local means being accountable to the communities it serves, investing in them, and putting its network to work in ways that make a meaningful difference.

United provides complimentary fiber internet service to a total of 17 volunteer fire stations in Bedford, Franklin, Lincoln, Marshall, Maury, Rutherford, and Williamson counties. Reliable broadband helps these departments communicate, coordinate emergency response efforts, complete training, access critical online resources, and stay connected with other public safety agencies.

United Communications serves more than 50,000 residential and business customers across Middle Tennessee, and continues to invest locally through broadband expansion, public Wi-Fi projects, and various nonprofit partnerships alongside its ongoing support for local firefighters.
