Kristin Jackson of United Communications Named 2021 CFO Award Winner

Honored as a Top Chief Financial Officer in Nashville by Nashville Business Journal

Franklin, Tenn. (September 30, 2021)—United Communications is proud to celebrate the latest achievement of Chief Financial Officer Kristin Jackson, who’s been named a winner of the Nashville Business Journal’s 2021 CFO Awards. In its 13th year, the annual list of winners recognizes the top CFOs in Nashville.

Since joining United Communications in 2016, Jackson has contributed to the company’s rapid growth by leading financial, regulatory, IT, and HR initiatives.

“We really appreciate her top-notch finance skills, but it’s her insight and strategic vision that continue to drive growth and financial vitality for United. This award serves as further proof that Kristin is among the best in her field and a valued asset to our team,” said William Bradford, President and CEO of United Communications.

Having been integral throughout United’s acquisitions and partnerships over the years, Jackson assisted with the due diligence and regulatory approvals associated with United’s acquisition of Athena Broadband in 2017, a partnership with Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation in 2018, and the fiber asset acquisition of Crystal Clear Technologies in 2021. Jackson has also consistently found ways to secure grant funding, a vital component of the company’s mission to connect local communities to broadband, a service everyone needs and deserves.

“I’m lucky to be able to do what I love at an organization that cares for our customers and our employees, and this award is truly a recognition of my entire team more so than just me. And it compels me to work even harder to help United forge a path into the future,” said Kristin Jackson, CFO of United Communications.

Bringing high-speed internet to rural areas is challenging, from the build-out in rural areas being very expensive, fiber installation costing roughly $34,000 per mile, to the timeline of permits and construction. Leading grant initiatives, Jackson has secured significant state and federal funding in the past two years enabling rural projects to be financially feasible.

“Without Kristin’s consistent success to secure funding, United would not be able to connect the thousands of underserved Middle Tennesseans to reliable internet access,” said Bradford.

Jackson is committed to advancing United’s growth but is also dedicated to lifting-up women in their professional careers. Serving on the Board of the United Community Foundation, she offers scholarships for college students in the United service area as well as being a member of Rutherford Cable, a women’s professional group in Rutherford County.
