United Communications Announces Recipients of the United Community Foundation Scholarship

Local Recipients Represent Academic Achievement & Service

 

Chapel Hill, Tenn. – June 24, 2022 – United Communications, Middle Tennessee’s leading provider of fiber and fixed wireless internet services announced the 2022 recipients of the annual United Community Foundation scholarship.

Funded by the United Community Foundation, the scholarship program enables local youth to continue their education on the collegiate level. Each eligible recipient will receive $1,000 per year for up to four years to advance in their respective field of study. Each scholar was selected after displaying remarkable academic achievement and community service. United has awarded merit-based scholarships to children of employees for many years and have expanded the fund to seniors graduating from three (3) additional high schools within the service area.

“Community is at the core of our mission” said William Bradford, president and CEO of United Communications.  “Helping fund a college education for deserving high-school graduates not only within our Communications family, but also within our service area is a great way to enhance the quality of life within our respective communities.”

Below are the students who were selected for the 2022 United Community Foundation scholarships:

 

Children of Employees Scholarship Recipients

Lydia Rowland – Lydia is a 2022 graduate of Providence Christian Academy in Murfreesboro and will be majoring in Chemistry at MTSU. She is the daughter of John and Wendy Rowland. John is the Director of Wireless Operations with United.

Anna Welch – Anna is a second-year recipient of the United Community Foundation Scholarship and is attending Columbia State Community College with a degree in the Radiology program. She is the daughter of Tammy Welch, HR Assistant with United. Anna graduated in 2021 from Forrest High School in Chapel Hill.

 

United Service Area Scholarship Recipients

James Flippo – James is a 2022 graduate of Forrest High School in Chapel Hill and will be majoring in Health Science at MTSU. James is the son of Ray and Melissa Flippo.

Jackson Blake – Jackson is a 2022 graduate of Nolensville High School in Nolensville and will be majoring in Business Finance at the University of TN – Chattanooga. Jackson is the son of Travis and Hilary Blake.

Katelyn Roberts – Katelyn is a 2022 graduate of Eagleville High School in Eagleville and will be majoring in Engineering at MTSU. Katelyn is the daughter of Erica Morel and Michael Roberts.

Emma Evans – Emma is a second-year recipient of the United Community Foundation Scholarship and is majoring in Public Health at the University of South Florida. Emma is the daughter of Missy and Paul Evans and is a 2021 graduate of Forrest High School in Chapel Hill.

 

Alexa Molnar – Alexa is a second-year recipient of the United Community Foundation Scholarship is in the nursing program at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She is the daughter of Daphne and Jason Molnar and is a 2021 graduate of Community High School in Unionville.

 

Zoe Long – Zoe is a third-year recipient of the United Community Foundation Scholarship and is studying Elementary Education at Columbia State Community College. Zoe is the daughter of William Long and Estelle Long and is a 2020 graduate from Forrest High School in Chapel Hill.
